How do you get the vomit smell out of a carpet w/out using harsh cleaners (don’t want to ruin the ScotchGuard)

My son threw up last night and I can’t seem to get the smell out. I have already tried soaking it and then using the shop vac to suck up the moisture and cleaning it with vinegar. It still smells like puke!! HELP!!!

The thing I found to be best when my son had the flu and puked all over the carpet A FEW TIMES lol…Carpet Fresh Pet Odors. Sound weird but it works. It is this foaming carpet cleaner. Yo ushake it, spray it and the foam dries in like 5 minutes and thats it. It smells really good and the pet odor one really takes smells out. The others dont do as well. But its ok cuz I think the pet one smells better than most anyways.
